IPvaani - It works wonderfully well.

Let me assure you that it WORKS. And it WORKS wonderfully well.
The voice quality is just too awesome. There are sometimes when the server is down, this is when IPVaani does not connect. But, then those times are few and far between. Completely FREE of cost. No call charges, absolutely. Apart from the initial device cost, there is no other cost involved.
But please ensure that you have an unlimited internet plan. BSNL users can go in for the Unlimited 256kbps plan. At present it is about Rs.750 plus taxes.
I'm advising you to go in for the unlimited plan because you will be tempted to make longer calls, since calls are not charged, this will cause more bandwidth to be used. Eventually you'll end up paying for the high internet usage. So, the best bet is to go in for an unlimited connection. Having said that, I must say that I have not monitored the usage. But I made sure that we had an unlimited connection in place before I left to the US.
People who do not own PC's can go in for the Rs250 or the Rs500 plans of BSNL. The only issue here could be configuring the modem to use DHCP. But that is just a minor issue. It can be resolved easily by just hooking up the modem to any of your friends PC's and configuring DHCP onto it. But, BSNL these days provides modems preconfigured to use DHCP. So it may end up to be a non-issue. By all means, please go ahead and buy this device. If you face any issues with the setup or in getting the device connected, please shoot a mail to me. I will gladly help out anyone with any sort of queries. I have had to pass through a trial by fire for two weeks to get this working, and I presume that I've finally understood all it's moods, so to say. The two weeks before I left to the US could have been better spent with my parents and family. I miss those moments now. I don't want anyone else to undergo the same mental torture.
