You can find the difference between 1.4 and 1.6 here. A good number of the 80+ patches that SwitchVox created for their product are now kreeping back into Asterisk. Early testing of Asterisk 1.6 using hash tables shows a SIP performance increase compared to 1.4 of factor 3 to 4 (seemnigly planned for Asterisk 1.6.1).

Cisco 7912G caught in a startup loop

Hello everyone,

I have a Cisco 7912G phone with SCCP ver 1.03 and I tried to load SIP 8.01 then SIP 1.01 via TFTP but it's not working. While I am able to go into the Network Configuration and specify the TFTP IP Address, IP Address and other functions when I save and reboot the phone it just goes off into an endless loop of searching for previous CallManager IP 10.24.97.1>Configuring VLAN>Configuring IP via DHCP> Repeat. The only thing that gets transferred via TFTP is the "gkdefault.cfg" file. I would see in status messages on the phone that TFTP times out even though the TFTP Address and, Laptop IP is correct and I turned off the firewall.

I previously read on this site I need to set the Profile Encrypt Key to "0" so the SIP firmware will auto load into the phone but when I go to Menu Key-> Settings-> Network Configuration -> The Profile Encrypt Key option doesn't exist.

So now VoIP hardware products and press releases go in Software Releases?? Are we making this up as we go along or are there really some guidelines somewhere that are actually followed? Just curious.

Thanks for the suggestion — I double-checked both the posting guidelines and with the support team and see no reason to consider the post illegitimate. So...back it goes!

A discussion on newsworthiness of a posting is never 'won' by either side. Off course you get clicks, that is the primary reason to post here. Check with Posting Guidelines and if you question the removal, check with the admin.
