Siemens Gigaset S685IP

Created by: mmcnamee,Last modification on Sat 27 of Sep, 2008 [19:56 UTC] by emmanuel38
The Siemens Gigaset S685IP is an evolution of the S675IP and is the first S6xx series to officially launch in the UK.

The features are the same as the S675IP, but it has the additional benefits of:

- Bluetooth, supporting headset and COM profiles for connection to headsets and a PC for contact and file synchronisation.
- 128x160 pixel 65K screen (not sure if the S675 has this?)

Notable Improvements over the S450IP are:

- Louder volume on both speaker phone and earpiece
- Louder ring tone volume
- bluetooth on each handset
- built in answerphone. 30-35 minutes max recording time, approx 18-20 minutes recording on "High Quality" mode
- HDSP (High Definition 8KHz wideband audio support)

Known problems

  • The RSS feed only displays the title of the first entry in the feed, and it does not seem to accept all common feeds.

  • Menu 8-5-1 (Call List Type: Missed calls/All calls) is missing.
    • Workaround: To activate "All calls", press Menu (right arrow), enter 8 5 then 910, display shows: 910 SET (0), enter 1, press OK to activate.

  • CRITICAL BUG with lastest firmware, you will loose calls !
    • After a short period of time (1 to 5 days), handsets are no more ringing on all calls, you need to reboot DECT base.
    • A ticket is open with Siemens Support for this problem.
    • look at discussion tab

vcard over bluetooth works well but slowly - I have beamed contacts to my S68H handset from my Nokia E65, and from Wife's Sony Ericsson too.

I've got a S675IP which I'm quite happy with. I'm considering buying a S685IP though, but I'm curious about how well the vCard over bluetooth function works, as well as the bluetooth headset function?

I have a triple set of S685IPs here, connected to 4 different SIP accounts and an Asterisk (Trixbox) exchange, I've posted some basic info, above, but if someone would like me to test something in particular or provide further specs and details on a specific area, please ask.
